HP’s Touch Pad

HP’s Touch Pad

I have recently read the HP’s statements for the Bloomberg Business Week magazine and have found quite a lot of interesting stuff about their upcoming products. Firstly, I noticed a trend that emerges from the shadows of their newly developed and upcoming tablet - the Touch Pad, and, secondly, I have found quite a lot of praise for the product that I hope would not be just another attempt to attract consumers in buying something that is no better than the more reasonable products out there.

About my first point - HP has always worked with Wintel (Windows + Intel). However, this peculiar but fruitful partnership seems to be working no more. The company has developed its own software, just like Apple’s Mac, called webOS and has implicated it already in the production of its Touch Pad. This means no more Windows on HP when it comes to mobile devices. Furthermore, the company has implemented processor from AMD rather than its long term partner when it comes to computers - Intel. There are, of course no low cost flights to ultimate happiness for such a business giant and the people from HP would suffer losses from such a brave business attempt. What is more interesting, however, is what kind of a product would such an independent initiative product create.

This question meets the answer in the words of the HP representative. He states confidently that the device is performing amazingly well, the software store is being updated almost every minute with new apps and different new features and updates, the hardware is working perfectly fine and the smooth work of the device is ensured. I kind of doubt that - it is not a standard HP product. It would be entirely new experience for everyone, provided by an independent HP product with software that seems absolutely unfamiliar to me. So I doubt all points made by the HP person, however, cannot wait to satisfy my curiosity and try this… WHAT.. 500$ dollar no-known-software, hardware-changed product?! Oh well, seems like it would be an year of innovations.
