So I followed a friend of mine to her doctor to find out all about cosmetic surgery and its pros and cons. While I was in the waiting area there was a lady there with her little child who was constantly coughing. She said he had whooping cough. I was a bit surprised that in this day and age whooping cough still exists and still has not outright cure.
Now whooping cough is a bacterial diseases caused by the Bordetella pertussis bacteria. The other name for whooping cough is pertussis. This was a common disease some not so long time ago.
The symptoms of whooping cough include the patient coughing and giving off a whoop sound at the end of the cough and vomiting. The patient will need to see a qualified doctor for diagnosis because the symptoms are similar to those of a common cold. A health specialist will test the mucus of the patient to determine whether the bacteria Bordetella pertussis is present.
Treating whooping cough requires a very careful person because the disease is contagious. When treating a patient suffering from whooping cough you may need to wear a surgical mask. The first thing you need to do is isolate the patient from the other members of the family to avoid spreading the disease. Make sure that the patient is taking antibiotics prescribed by a qualified doctor. Patients need to take in a lot of water to avoid dehydration. It is advisable to consume small meals to avoid vomiting. Make sure that the patient is taking all the cough drugs prescribed by the doctor. <
